I used strips of Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper for these cards. They were left over from the 6×6 One Sheet Wonder project posted last week. I made four more stunning cards showing you four different layouts. If you would like to see the previous projects check the link below:
Using these strips is a great way to make a lot of quick cards. My pieces are slightly wider than 2 inches as that is what was left from the previous project. Cut it down just slightly and you can get even more use from the paper. Take a piece of 6×6 paper and you could get three from just one sheet or make 12 from just one sheet of 12×12 paper. It really stretches your DSP but you still get an amazing impact from the designs.
For the first card I simply tore the matting piece to create an interesting edge. You could make this smaller or larger depending on your preference. This was the simplest and quickest of the designs. The base of Pretty Peacock and the Melon Mambo piece was 5 1/2 by 3 before tearing. The DSP piece is 2 1/8 x 5 1/2.
On this card I used the same color ink as the matting layer and an image similar to the DSP to fill in the background. The card base is Pretty Peacock with a matting layer of Pear Pizzaz that is 4 x 5 1/4. The DSP is 2 1/8 x 5 1/4 and the Pretty Peacock mat is 2 3/8 x 5 1/4.
I love the burlap trim that is part of the Tropical Oasis Suite. Instead of a matting layer I used the trim to set the DSP apart from the card panel. The base is Whisper White with a Daffodil Delight mat of 4 x 5 1/4. The DSP is 2 1/8 x 5 1/4.
This card is my favorite of the set. I used the new basket weave embossing folder. Before running it through my Big Kick I put Crumb Cake ink on the folder to really make the embossed design stand out. The base for this card is crumb cake and the embossed layer is 4 x 5 1/4. The pool party matting for the DSP is 2 3/8 x 5 1/4 and the DSP is 2 1/8 x 5 1/4.
I hope you use this 6×6 One Sheet Wonder technique. Mix up the patterns, stamps and DSP for completely different looks. This is a great way to create a batch of cards quickly when you need to replenish your stash.
Make sure you grab your paper, stamp and ink and make something creative!
