I created 5 cards from 1 kit using the Pink and Main November 2020 Crafty Courtyard Kit. I’m a bit behind on my kits but I’m working on catching up. Thank you cards never go out of style, right? I love the mix in this kit of feminine images along with masculine patterns and colors.
If you haven’t checked out the kits yet they are an excellent value. This kit not only included the consumable items such as paper and embellishments but you also get items you can add to your tool chest. This month we received a stamp set, coordinating die set, stencil and embossing folder. These are sure to be staples in my craft room.
For some of my cards I used card sketches and for others I created the designs. The video tutorial is linked below for a walkthrough of the card designs. The coordinating Stampin’ Up! ink colors I used were Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight and Balmy Blue.
Let’s take a look at each of the cards.
This first card uses Operation Write Home Card Sketch #205. I modified slightly to allow for a border on the card. I find when working with paper strips for the background it is helpful to layer them on a piece of cardstock first and then mount that on my card front. That way you can trim off any excess pieces. I used the Pink and Main layered circle dies http://shrsl.com/2shwm to create the sentiment piece and coordinating mat on this card and others in this set. This is my go to die set in my craft room.
This card is also based off of a sketch. The sketch used is Operation Write Home #191. I modified this sketch slightly by changing the orientation and size of the banner. Using sketches is a great jumping off point in designing and making changes as you go to suit your project. I added matting layers and some of the gorgeous glitter enamel dots included in the kit.
This card was based on another sketch from Operation Write Home #B-2. I again added matting layers to the design. I also modified the heart shape to a circle and changed the placement on the card. The butterflies on the sentiment circle were used to fill in some of the white space. I then added sequins in groups of three. I placed three separate groups in a triangle placement to help your eye move around the card.
This card uses the gorgeous plaid embossing folder. I inked up one side and then ran it through my Big Shot to transfer the ink onto the background pieces. The Thanks sentiment was cut from the included die set along with the shadow piece which helps it to stand off from the background. The flower and leaves were stamped and die cut with the coordinating dies. It is finished off with some more of those glitter enamel dots.
The last card is a mini slimline design which is the perfect size for a clean and simple card. The dimensions for the mini slimline card are 7″ x 6″ scored on the 7″ side at 3 1/2″. I stamped the three sentiments and then die cut with some stitched rectangle dies. The cardstock included in the kit had this great polka dot pattern to add interest to the background. A few glitter enamel dots finish it off for a quick and simple card.
